Dress Code for 2019-2020

At Teresa C. Berrien, we are proud of the way our students look when they come to school. We believe the way a student looks reflects his/her attitude towards self and school. All students are expected to dress and groom themselves neatly and appropriately in accordance with the following rules:

1. Clothes and hair should not present a danger to the health and
safety of the student or other students.
2. Appearance should not cause an interference with schoolwork or
create classroom disorder.
3. Students and clothing should be neat and clean.
4. T-shirts with obscene or vulgar messages are prohibited.
5. Enclosed footwear should be worn anytime students are outside.
Flip flops and open toed shoes cannot be worn to school.
6. Dangling earrings are a hazard and should not be worn to school.
7. Revealing or provocative clothing is inappropriate for school.

Wellness Tip: Childhood Obesity Awareness Month

Image of several children running through grass with caption of Childhood Obesity Awareness MonthOne in three children in the United States is overweight or obese. Childhood obesity puts kids at risk for health problems that were once seen only in adults, like type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease.

The good news is that childhood obesity can be prevented. In honor of National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month, CCS encourages your family to make healthy changes together.

  • Get active outside: Walk around the neighborhood, go on a bike ride, or play basketball at the park.
  • Limit screen time: Keep screen time (time spent on the computer, watching TV, or playing video games) to 2 hours or less a day.
  • Make healthy meals: Buy and serve more vegetables, fruits, and whole-grain foods.

Taking small steps as a family can help your child stay at a healthy weight.
